Why Institutional Due Diligence Matters More Than Ever

Links Global Partners Editorial Team·June 2026·6 min read

The increasing importance of governance, operational infrastructure and manager selection within alternative investments.

Due diligence has long been a cornerstone of institutional allocation, but recent years have brought a marked increase in its depth and breadth. Operational infrastructure, valuation policy, service-provider quality and governance now sit alongside investment strategy as primary determinants of allocator confidence.

Wealth managers and family offices increasingly expect issuers to evidence — not merely describe — their operating model. Independent administration, audited financials, clearly articulated conflicts policies and a transparent fee architecture are baseline expectations.

For issuers, the implication is straightforward. Investing in institutional-quality infrastructure ahead of fundraising is no longer optional. Professional intermediaries remain responsible for reviewing these dimensions independently and obtaining specialist advice where appropriate.
